8 January 2007 - First up this year is another interview from 1989, here Scroll to the foot of that page for the article. This one has some really good stuff on JS's time in Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake. It seemed kind of appropriate to post the latter in view of the forthcoming 20th anniversary edition of 'Whitesnake 1987', and the promised new Whitesnake studio album...Seeing those 2 new discs is just going to bring it home again it isn't JS getting the glory. The current Whitesnake are trying to tell us they can blend the old 'Snake with the new, when the truth is they've never sounded so metal as they do right now. I was never a fan of old style Whitesnake, but at least when JS played songs like 'Ready an' Willing' it didn't seem like the band was trying to say it could please everyone. They sounded faster, fresher, and were more kick-arse. The current band's take on those 'classic' Whitesnake tunes - especially when compared with the new tracks like 'Dog' - just does not convince me.
21 December - Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and/or Seasonal Greetings to everyone who visits this site.
28 November - On Monday of this week Whitesnake released a new double live album - "Live...In the Shadow of the Blues" - featuring four new studio recordings by the Coverdale/Aldrich team. The album on the whole is good, very good actually, but I think that for Whitesnake 1987 songs I will always prefer JS's Bad Boy Live! John can sing and play those songs better. I've also come across a recording of an acoustic promo session by Coverdale and Aldrich which took place in Cologne last weekend. DC proclaims himself and Aldrich as the 'Unrighteous Brothers', which to my mind brings back thoughts of DC and JS singing 'Unchained Melody' together - something DC once claimed they did.
News about the 20th anniversary edition of the Whitesnake 1987 album (from the above promo session): due for release in late Spring 2007 (a new Whitesnake album to follow in the summer, apparently), this will be a 2 disc set. The first disc will be the original album remastered with two extra songs (? - probably Looking for Love and You're Gonna Break My Heart Again which didn't make it onto the US version of the album), together with 4 1987 songs from the new WS live album. A DVD will feature all the MTV-era clips together with 4 1987-era songs from the recent WS DVD Live...in the Still of the Night. So, all in all, a bit of a re-hash. Nothing really new, although hopefully the remastered 1987 album will be better than the Axe Killer 'Back in Black' version (a remix that brought up the guitars would have been better), and fingers crossed JS will get due credit in the blurb that accompanies this release.
More current Whitesnake news of interest: DC says that the core of the live set next year will be the 1987 record. He wants to play 'Looking for Love', 'Don't Turn Away' and 'Straight for the Heart'!! Really hope he keeps to his word, because it would be great to hear Doug Aldrich playing these Sykes tunes! It's also a great testimony to JS's talent and songwriting that DC feels these songs are still current. I knew that all along...
17 November - The Thin Lizzy tourdates scheduled for Australia in December have been cancelled. The promoter (Andrew McManus) said the following on their website:- "It’s with much disappointment we announce that your next dose of Double Trouble featuring Cheap Trick and Thin Lizzy has been cancelled. Both Cheap Trick & AMP apologize for any inconvenience caused and look forward to announcing a new tour by Cheap Trick in the not too distant future. Please stay tuned for news of a future tour in 2007." To help you all get over the disappointment this news brings (note I didn't say surprise), here's another photo from Reading 1980.

23 October - Unconfirmed tour dates for 'Thin Lizzy' here
19 October - Another Blue Murder article ("John Sykes-led band battles...") added here. And this advert for the Sykes 'Out of My Tree' album from a Japanese magazine. Bit hard to read (click to enlarge), but note the different running order, and also that the advert states the album will have 11 tracks (and not 10 as was eventually the case). The eleventh track "Two Count Murder" could be the song "2 Counts" which ended up on the 20th Century album released in 1997.
18 October - Rumours are that John is going to be touring Australia and New Zealand with Thin Lizzy in late November/early December. Wasting more of his time when he could be making a new solo or Blue Murder record - what he does best!! I'm unsure whether the tour rumours are true or not. Nothing is confirmed until John's official site says it is. This would be good news for any Sykes fans down under, but it depresses the hell out of me. Sorry.
Another bit of news is that David Coverdale is putting together a 20th anniversary edition of the Whitesnake 1987 album for release next year. I wonder if it will have any interesting bonus tracks / any input from JS, without whom the album would never have been so successful?
I also added another Blue Murder interview here. This time from 1993.
16 October - Another Blue Murder article added to this page.
12 October - I've added a second Blue Murder page. Loads more articles to come...
11 October - Updated the Whitesnake page with a short article from Record Mirror 1984 called 'Sultan of Swing'.
5 October - It's been a while since the last update because of work getting in the way (mostly). Below is a great picture of John, a Glen LaFerman shot from 1989 originally published in Rip magazine in the States. It's a taster of what you can expect to see more of on here in the coming weeks. Take care, Simon.

16 September - Added an audio clip of Lynott and Sykes performing 'The Man's A Fool'. Go here and scroll down.>
7 September - Tygers of Pan Tang albums to be re-released on CD! As he indicated in the interview I did with him back in June, Jess Cox is re-releasing the first four Tygers of Pan Tang albums on CD this October on his Metal Nation Records label. You can order copies direct from the site or on ebay. Obviously this includes Spellbound, Crazy Nights and The Cage, all of which feature John Sykes. This time, Metal Nation have re-packaged the reissues that came out on the Edgy label in 1997 - the ones with bonus tracks, lyrics, full original artwork, archive photos and band biographies. If you don't already have these - and they have been quite hard to find in recent years - then snap these up without delay! This is really good news - Tygers deserve to have a much higher profile and this might help some more metal fans discover a classic NWOBHM band and some great songs.
6 September - Little snippet of gossip from an interview with Don Airey over on the Deep Purple Hub website: "How do you remember your time in Whitesnake? Did you go on the road with them and if so, what crazy stories stick in your memory? I never went on the road with them just played on the records. Whitesnake 87 is a wonderful album; I was going to say particularly the guitar playing of John Sykes, but everything’s great, vocals, Neil’s bass, Ainsley’s drum sound, and Mike Stone’s production." ALSO, I am currently working on some more Tygers of Pan Tang collaborations. Keep checking back for some good stuff!
30 August - Question and Answer with ex-Tygers of Pan Tang manager Tom Noble now online - here!
24 August - A new audio clip online: Tygers performing 'Don't Stop By' live in Leeds on the 1981 Spellbound UK tour. There's a little surprise at the end...Listen here.
23 August - My interview with ex-Tygers of Pan Tang singer Jess Cox is now online. Check it out here.
21 August - Given the Thin Lizzy page a little bit of a revamp. Check it out here. In other news, blabbermouth.net recently posted an interview with Carmine Appice. He had some rather candid (not to say worrying) things to say about JS and the possibility of Blue Murder reforming:- Lately, we've been talkin' about getting it together, but John is a very difficult guy to work with. He never knows what he wants to do, ya know? [...] Me, Tony and John played together last October. We jammed and the songs were ninety percent there, ya know? They wouldn't take a lot to get them to the point where we could take them out and do some shows. But John didn't want to get together to take a picture or anything. He's a weird dude. So right now, we're at a standstill with it. (See the full interview here.)
18 August - A new Thin Lizzy DVD has just been released by WHE International. Entitled Outlawed: Thin Lizzy and the real Phil Lynott, it is a documentary of Phil's life featuring interviews with Phil acolytes and friends (including Eric Bell, George Best, Robbo, and Laurence Archer). There are numerous clips taken from the 1983 Dublin RDS gig that features JS, who also appears in a photo from the same era that adorns the back cover of the DVD and the inside of the accompanying booklet. The DVD set also includes a CD of ten live tracks from 1983-84, seven of which feature JS and these are from the 1983 Three Musketeers tour of Sweden. This DVD doesn't really add anything new for diehard Lizzy fans, but it is entertaining enough.
4 August - Geffen Records have released "Whitesnake Gold", a collection of 33 tracks spanning Coverdale's career from the first Whitesnake album onwards, including a couple of rarities. Yet another WS compilation, although this one does have a pleasingly glossy sheen to it. JS features on ten tracks from the Slide It In and 1987 albums, although the version of "Give Me All Your Love" is the dreadful 1988 remix on which Vivian Campbell replaced JS's guitar solo with one of his own. Unusually for a Whitesnake compilation, this CD includes a group photo featuring Sykes. Nice to see someone acknowledging that JS was in the band!

31 July - I'm back from holiday and back in business. While I was away I read Cynthia Lennon's extremely worthwhile biography of John Lennon - a hero of JS's. I would advise anyone with an interest in The Beatles to read this book, which gives some very valuable insights into the man behind the music. Two overriding impressions: having read this book I understand more than ever why JS felt moved to write his Lennon tribute song 'Don't Say Goodbye'; however, the man who wanted everyone to live in peace (Lennon) didn't exactly always act as if he was 'God's chosen one', as Sykes puts it. There are many ways in which we can learn from John Lennon, but he also had many traits it is better not to adopt - his treatment of son Julian, his attitude to his old friends and his past especially after he moved to the US...
6 July - I'm rather busy at the moment, so I'm being a bit slow with getting the Jess Cox interview done. Here's a fun picture though (by John Harrell - originally published in Burrn! in 1995) - it shows John Sykes (and some geezer wearing a striped shirt)...

28 June - The July-August issue of Fireworks has a pretty detailed interview with JS and Scott Gorham in which JS says some rather unfortunate things with regard to critics of the reformed 'Thin Lizzy'. I'm disappointed. If JS is seriously considering working with a revived Blue Murder - or doing any solo work - in Europe I really don't see how this attitude is going to help.
25 June - Today I met up with former Tygers of Pan Tang vocalist Jess Cox to talk about the band and JS's time with them. I'm aiming to publish the interview on this site as soon as I can, so watch this space! In the meantime, check out these recent Question and Answers with ex-Tygers Rocky Laws and Brian Dick here.
21 June - More updates today: Blue Murder page, Whitesnake page, and a new audio clip - here.
20 June - Updated the Blue Murder page with some pictures and other snippets.
16 June - The July issue of Guitarist magazine has a three page interview with JS and Scott Gorham on the back of the Lizzy tour. Bit late, but still good to see. There's some old photos of the pair, guitar techie stuff, and JS says "It's nice to get away from the guitar now and then and that way, when you pick it up and start playing again, it's all exciting again."
13 June - I've seen the new Whitesnake Music in Review DVD (Ragnarock Films Ltd). This DVD has just been released. It's another one of those unauthorized jobbies and unfortunately it lives down to all expectations! There are plenty of clips, mostly 1983 Donington, but also some earlier stuff, and "blink and you'll miss it" bits of Rock in Rio 1985 and Donington 1990. Neil Murray is featured quite a lot, and his interview actually forms the backbone of the presentation. Otherwise it is recordings of DC's voice, a few words from JS, Micky Moody, Steve Vai etc. The British rock journalists who talk their way through the history of Whitesnake (Paul Elliott, Malcolm Dome, Jerry Ewing) are quite good value and know what they are talking about, but all in all this seems like a blatant attempt to cash in on the success of the official DVD. For example, there's a photo of Doug Aldrich on the sleeve but absolutely no mention of him, nor of Whitesnake post-1990. Of interest to Whitesnake/JS obsessives only.
12 June - Another 'interesting fact' from the Louder than Life DVD is that JS cites The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band as his favourite album.

5 June - Check out a new DVD called 'Heavy Metal: Louder than Life' (Fremantle Home Entertainment). It's the story of HM featuring clips and interviews from loads of fantastic bands. It's packed with loads of special features, and by the way, John Sykes is featured quite a bit. JS's first words on the DVD (defining what Heavy Metal is all about) are 'not letting anyone down; giving all you can'...How about giving all you can to making a new solo record? Would 'please' help?
2 June - The world still awaits further news about the mooted summer Thin Lizzy tour dates in the US. In the meantime, here's a front cover from one of the several editions of Japanese Young Guitar magazine to have featured JS.

26 May - The June issue of Classic Rock features an interview with JS (stone me - something on Sykes in Classic Rock!) done in London earlier this year. Nothing new or earth-shattering to report, except that JS does not pass up the opportunity to have a dig at David Coverdale (go on, my son!): 'he wanted to go it alone and grab all the glory for himself'. Doug Aldrich, you have been warned.
Blue Murder page updated with some quotes and a picture from 1989.
20 May - The June issue of Guitar Buyer magazine has a four-page feature on JS and Scott Gorham. There's comments by both guys, some techie guitar stuff, a nice full-page photo. JS says he does not practice the guitar much these days...
19 May - Added some very rare Tygers photos from their Newcastle Mayfair gig in 1980, courtesy of Tygers fan John Spence - thanks, John! (And also to Steve Lee - the go-between!). Here's one below for a starter. The rest can be found on the Tygers page.

9 May - Coming soon: more rare JS interviews from the 1990s.
29 April - The ThinLizzyLive.com forum site has been updated with a new group photo of John, Scott, Marco and Michael which is good to see. I doubt it will make their detractors very happy though. Gee, that's too bad!
28 April - Tygers article from September 1980 placed on the Tygers page.
23 April - Another Tygers of Pan Tang article rescued from the mists of time by yours truly (with a nice group photo!). Click here. And another new shot from the recent Lizzy tour by Ian Lovell below.

18 April - Added an audio clip of John's guitar solo from the "God of War" track on Derek Sherinian's 2004 CD, "Mythology". Check it out here.
8 April - Questions and Answers with ex-Tyger of Pan Tang, Richard 'Rocky' Laws. Thankyou to Richard for taking the time and trouble to answer in such detail! See Tygers page.
7 April - New photo of JS from the Copenhagen show on the Lizzy tour. Thanks to Mads!

3 April - Tygers page updated with transcript of a 1981 interview and 1980 photos. Click here. 2 more photos from Ian Lovell, Bristol March 2006. Thanks mate - you're the best.

31 March - Questions and Answers with ex-Tygers of Pan Tang drummer, Brian Dick (he played on the Spellbound and Crazy Nights albums with John Sykes). Click here
30 March - New picture of JS and Scott Gorham from the 26 March Bristol Lizzy show, courtesy of Ian Lovell. And yes, JS is wearing the same shirt he wore in Newcastle!

28 March - The latest edition of Guitar Techniques magazine (April 2006) has a feature on Whitesnake's Here I Go Again, concentrating on John Sykes's contribution to the track and to the band generally. There is a full page picture of JS in his Please Don't Leave Me era (1982). Unfortunately, there's a couple of errors in the article, and worst of all, the version of the song is the one from the 1987 album, which had Vandenberg's godawful solo (wrongly credited to JS in the magazine! - doh!!). Not to worry though, because the article, which was clearly written by a JS fan, concludes with the following words: 'Coverdale has never duplicated the success and sound of his perfect collaboration with Sykes.' Correct-a-mundo!!
21 March - Went to see Lizzy at Newcastle City Hall last night. Awesome guitar sound from JS - that's what you get in front row centre! Setlist: Are you ready / Do anything you want to / (wrong order from now on) Chinatown / Waiting for an alibi / Killer on the loose / Cold Sweat / Warrior / Emerald / Sha la la / Suicide / Bad Reputation / Don't believe a word / Jailbreak / Still in love with you / Cowboy song / Boys are back in town / Rosalie / Black Rose. I took this photo...

15 March - Updated the Whitesnake page with a timeline detailing the recording of the 1987 album.
7 March - The April edition of Classic Rock has just hit the shops and it is devoted to the Top 100 Greatest British Rock Albums Ever. Whitesnake 1987 comes in at a lowly #96, behind such British rock greats as Primal Scream, Oasis and Peter Gabriel (WTF is that all about??!!). There is also a review of the recently released Thin Lizzy Thunder and Lightning DVD, which states rather grumpily that 'John Sykes's bombastic guitar pyrotechnics can be jarring', and a small interview with Scott Gorham about the forthcoming Lizzy tour, which fails to excite, although Scott does repeat that the band will 'play some things we haven't played in 25 years that still deserve an airing'. They'd better mean that.

5 March - Classic Rock and Metal Hammer magazines have just issued a 1980s special, which includes four pages on 1987-era Whitesnake. The article is a tired re-hash of the same old story: sadly the sort of thing you can expect from Classic Rock these days. No pictures of John Sykes or acknowledgement of his songwriting contribution to the album. Things get a little better in the section on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal - there is a little segment on the Tygers alongside a photo of the band with John. Too bad they think Wild Cats was the best Tygers album though (did they even bother to listen to Spellbound?!).
3 March - Check out this interview with John's pal and Blue Murder drummer Carmine Appice. It is quite a long interview, but the interesting bit is where he talks about a possible Blue Murder reunion being imminent. Fingers crossed!
28 February - Scott Gorham appeared on Johnnie Walker's programme on BBC Radio 2 this evening. Amongst other things (Scott's favourite British bands were Cream and Jeff Beck; his favourite Lizzy track to play is Still in Love with You, because it reminds him of Phil; his best memories of Phil were the devilish grin, the way he perspired - like Niagara Falls), Scott said that on the forthcoming tour the band will be playing one or two songs they have never played on stage before!...Let us pray! You can listen to the interview by going to http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/walker/ and clicking on Listen Again
24 February - The current issue of 'Guitarist' magazine (issue 274) contains an interview with Scott Gorham, in which he talks about his time in Thin Lizzy. He discusses playing guitar alongside JS and what sort of setlist fans can expect on the upcoming 20/20 tour: 'We're going to focus on the songs from Live and Dangerous but we're probably going to add around five songs from a 10-song shortlist that haven't been played in over 20 years.' (We'll hold them to that!!)
23 February - Snippet about JS from RAW magazine c.1994 uploaded, see here
17 February - The flyer for the 20/20 Thin Lizzy tour...

15 February - Tygers timeline uploaded. See Tygers page.
12 February - I've added an interview to the Blue Murder page, along with some exclusive recent pics by Ian Lovell - thanks mate!
6 February - Thanks to Ismael Henarejos for permission to link to his JS audio and video clips. See the links on the front page. Ismael has decided to no longer keep his John Sykes website updated with the latest news. Having started his website back in 1997, Ismael has arguably done more than any other fan to spread the word about JS on the internet: he got his just reward when he was named inside the CD booklet of Nuclear Cowboy. What a legend!
4 February - The Lizzy tour dates have now been finalised. The tour now kicks off in Manchester on 18 March. The early April dates have been arranged for Copenhagen (4 April), and Aarhus (5 April), which are both in Denmark. The tour is rounded off with 2 dates at the Dublin Olympia on the 11 and 12 April.
1 February - Lizzy tour news update: the band will no longer be playing at The Point in Dublin, and the St Patrick's Day date (17 March) has apparently been scrapped altogether. John, Scott, Marco and Michael now play what is billed as their only Irish date this year at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on 12 April. I am sure that this will be the band line-up. Newcastle City Hall publicity is still claiming that Darren Wharton (keyboards) and Carmine Appice (drums) will be joining John, Scott and Marco, but this seems highly unlikely.
25 January - OK! I've been waiting a while to do this but I can finally post not one, but TWO! interviews with John from 2004 which first appeared in Japanese magazines Burrn! and Young Guitar. These were originally sent to me by Yuki and have been kindly translated by ginrickey - thanks guys, you rock!!.

23 January - Some more Lizzy tour news: the band have apparently scrapped plans to play Nottingham Rock City on the 28th March and will now play Brentwood Leisure Centre (in Essex) on March 29th. Further dates - venues to be announced, but not likely to be in the UK - are planned for April 4th, 5th and the 10th.
22 January - John Sykes appeared at the NAMM show this weekend, along with Marco Mendoza, Doug Aldrich and many other guitar luminaries. Here's a photo of JS I found on Doug's message board. This site's been going for about 4 months now, so I thought it was an appropriate time to look at some of the stats and this site has received just under 56,000 page hits since it came online, and people have visited from as far afield as Brazil, Mexico, Norway, Australia and Japan! So thanks to everyone for their interest. This photo below is courtesy of Dave Hughes. Cheers, Simon.

21 January - added a review of Big Game Hunting (see reviews)

20 January - Check out the Gibson "John Sykes" Les Paul Custom here; it is simply awesome!!
19 January - Gibson Guitars are to issue a signature John Sykes Les Paul Custom guitar. Details of this model are to be unveiled at the NAMM music industry products show being held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California over the next few days. Over the years many amateur guitarists have customized their own black Les Pauls to mimic JS's guitar (complete with the chrome finishing). This release promises to be the real deal, i.e. complete with the "wear and tear" visible on JS's Black Beauty today. It is sure to be a real collector's item!

17 January - Added my review of Slide It In today. See Reviews. More to come. John's official site also states that the line-up for the tour is JS, Scott, Marco and Michael Lee. Not with Brian Downey, Darren Wharton or Carmine Appice as is suggested elsewhere.

13 January - Here they are! Tour dates for 2006 (see official site for confirmation): Dublin: The Point: March 17th, 2006 Manchester Academy March 18th, 2006 Newcastle City Hall: March 20th, 2006 Glasgow Academy: March 21st, 2006 Sheffiield City Hall: March 22nd 2006 Birmingham Academy: March 23, 2006 Portsmouth Guilhall: March 25th, 2006 Bristol Academy: March 26th, 2006 North Wales Theater: March 27th, 2006 Nottingham Rock City: March 28th, 2006 London Hammersmith: March 30th, 2006 Norwich UEA: March 31st, 2006 Cologne, Live Music Hall: April 1st, 2006 Amsterdam Paradiso April 2nd, 2006 Skien Norway Telemark Messesenter: April 7th, 2006 Haugesund Norway Vardhallen: April 8th, 2006 Hamburg, Germany: April 11th, 2006
12 January - Added a couple of new pictures to the interviews page.
11 January - Writing some Tygers reviews to appear here soon: here's a picture of JS from those times as a little appetizer...

9 January - Rumours that a 2006 Sykes-Gorham Lizzy tour is to get underway in March, on St Patrick's Day, to be precise. The 20/20 Tour (20th anniversary of Phil Lynott's death: 20 tour dates). Expect tour dates to be announced by JS's management soon.

7 January - MOJO Radio are broadcasting Thin Lizzy live in Glasgow from March 1983 (obviously featuring JS) tonight at 9pm UK time. You can find MOJO radio on Freeview channel 721, Sky channel 932, or online.
4 January 2006 - Bit late in the day but at 10.30pm it is still the 20th anniversary of Phil Lynott's passing: "And even in the darkest of nights, you can always hear the King call".
22 December - Uploaded the Sykes song list. Please e-mail me regarding inaccuracies, things I have left out, queries and so on. Also, a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone who visits this website. Thanks for your interest! Let's hope 2006 has some amazing things in store for Sykes fans!! Best wishes, Simon.
17 December - Tour news: The Sykes/Gorham Lizzy 31 January gig at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, for which tickets were on sale, has been put back to 2 April. No surprise it was a load of hot air! Nothing is confirmed until John's official website says so. That shouldn't be too difficult to understand!
16 December - Couple more photos added to the site from the Swansea 2003 gig. These are more from www.ianlovell.com - thanks Ian! Interesting fact: the venue for this gig - the Patti Pavilion - was where yours truly sat a couple of degree examinations in 1997. Wow! How about it?!

13 December - Coming very soon a complete JS song list with where to find the definitive version of each song! Meantime, check out this fab picture of Ian Lovell's below: it's from Bristol 2005.

8 December - Updated the page for the ladies! Check it out here.
5 December - Endrik's guitar analysis is here!
30 November - Coming soon is something truly awesome for guitar players: a Music Appreciation page written by a good friend of mine, Endrik.
25 November - Hi everyone. This is a heads-up for JS fans in the UK (and maybe Europe). It would be cool to have some sort of gathering of Sykes fanatics during the rumoured 2006 Thin Lizzy tour. Obviously there is no guarantee that such a tour is going to take place, but being optimistic, let us hope that JS is going to make an appearance on these shores sometime in 2006! As a first step I've set up a Frappr! map through Google for people to show us where they are. That way we can get a rough idea of how many people might be interested in meeting up and where it would be best to hold such a meeting. This is the link to find the place to put yourself on the map, so to speak: http://www.frappr.com/johnsykesfanforum. Let's see what happens with this. Cheers! Simon.
21 November - Just another picture, just for the hell of it. From Newport, 2003. Thanks Ian!

19 November - Updated the Tygers page
17 November - Updated the reviews page with a review of the Blue Murder album
16 November - Updated the Lizzy page with a classic interview circa end 1982, and another of my good mate Ian Lovell's pics. And below is another one. Enjoy!

12 November - Updated the Blue Murder page with a 1989 tour review
10 November - updated the girls only page!
8 November - Gallery updated
4 November - Updated the Whitesnake page with a picture of Rock in Rio-era Whitesnake. I will have an updated Tygers page very soon too!
1 November - Updated the Whitesnake page with a review of Wembley Arena March 1984
30 October - Updated the Gallery

27 October - News
Fantastic interview with JS and Ray Gillen c.1987 posted on the John Sykes Fan Forum. Check it out.
7 October 2005 - Update
Added another interview and some pics in the Whitesnake Bio section, with a very biased introduction from me, but hey, what do you expect?! - Simon.
27 September 2005 - Update
The interviews page is now up and running, and will be added to again very soon with great interviews with John from 1989 from Kerrang and RAW magazines. There is also a page of the biography devoted to John's time in the Tygers. Much more to come.
September 2005 - Hello everyone
Thanks for stopping by to check out this website. My aim with this website is to publish as much information about John Sykes as I can that doesn't exist anywhere else on the web. John has his own official website, where you can read the official news, buy merchandise and check out John's guitars; Ismael's got a brilliant website where you can listen to sound clips from John's CDs; I've also got a message board where you can discuss all aspects of John and his music; here though, you'll be able to read rare interviews, read reviews of John's CDs written by fans, find links collected together to reviews of John's music, and generally find stuff out about John that you can't elsewhere on the web. The aim is to be the best source of info about John Sykes on the internet - hence the name of the site!! Please bear with me while I get things set up, and keep checking back for updates.

Why am I doing this? Why a website about someone who is largely unknown in his own country? Quite simply, because John's guitar-playing on Whitesnake's "1987" is what got me into hard rock as a 12 year-old. That's why. John's music is what I always come back to after listening to everything else, it's what I never get bored with, it's what makes me pick up the guitar and pretend to be a rock star, it's what makes me play air guitar. You hardly ever see John's records for sale in shops in the UK; he never tours his own music here in Europe. And not enough people know about John's talent. Hopefully, this website can go a little way to putting that right. Thanks, Simon.
